Hormone Replacement Therapy
(HRT)

What is HRT?

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment used to supplement the body’s natural hormone levels, typically involving Estrogen, Progesterone, and sometimes Testosterone. The treatment is commonly used to alleviate symptoms of menopause in women, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. These symptoms result from a decline in estrogen levels as the ovaries reduce hormone production during menopause.

However, HRT is not limited to treating menopausal symptoms in women. It is also used to address other hormonal imbalances in both males and females, including conditions such as:

  • Andropause (Male Menopause): In men, HRT can be used to supplement declining testosterone levels, helping to manage symptoms such as reduced libido, fatigue, and mood changes.
  • Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI): For women who experience early menopause or ovarian insufficiency, HRT can help restore hormone balance.

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a specialized form of hormone replacement therapy that utilizes hormones chemically identical to those produced naturally by the human body. These hormones are usually derived from plant sources, such as soy or yam, ensuring they match the body’s own hormones in structure and function.

The key distinction between BHRT and conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) lies in the origin of the hormones. While HRT often involves synthetic hormones that closely resemble but are not identical to the body’s natural hormones, BHRT uses hormones that are an exact match, providing a more precise and personalized approach to hormone replacement.

Hormonal Harmony Restored

In women, menopause leads to a decline in Estrogen and Progesterone production, resulting in symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. HRT can alleviate these symptoms and enhance the quality of life during menopause.

For men, HRT can address hormonal imbalances related to testosterone levels, which may improve symptoms such as low libido, fatigue, and mood changes. Overall, HRT is used to help both men and women achieve hormonal balance and improve their well-being.

Types of Hormones

Estradiol

Estradiol is one of the primary female sex hormones responsible for developing and maintaining female reproductive organs.

Progesterone

Progesterone plays a crucial role in regulating the menstrual cycle and preparing the uterus for pregnancy.

Melatonin
Melatonin plays a vital role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle and is often called the “sleep hormone”.

DHEA
DHEA is a precursor hormone that can be converted into other hormones. DHEA levels typically peak in the early to mid-20s and then decline with age.

Testosterone
Testosterone is responsible for developing male sexual characteristics, such as deepening of the voice, facial and body hair growth and muscle mass.

Pregnenolone
Pregnenolone is synthesized primarily in the adrenal glands, liver, skin, brain (by enhancing memory and learning), and other tissues.

DHEA Keto 7
DHEA Keto 7 is produced naturally in the body & its levels decrease with age. DHEA Keto 7 improves weight loss and speeds-up the body metabolism.

Oxytocin
Oxytocin plays a role in childbirth, lactation, and social bonding. Oxytocin also influences the autonomic nervous system and the immune system.

Liothyronine & Levothyroxine
These hormones treat hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone.

Hormone Pellets

Hormone pellets are small, subcutaneous implants that consist of crystalline hormones, typically shaped as solid cylinders. These pellets are usually inserted under the skin, often in the hip or buttock area, to boost hormone levels in the body. They provide a consistent and steady release of hormones into the bloodstream over several months, ensuring stable hormone replacement.

The pellets commonly contain hormones such as Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone. They are frequently used in hormone replacement therapy for both men and women, particularly to manage conditions like menopause or andropause. Hormone pellets offer various potential advantages over other hormone replacement methods, including consistent hormone levels and reduced frequency of administration.
